Tiko the Turtle

Last Tuesday, I was driving down Forte Apache when I noticed a rock on the street.  I went to swerve around it when I saw that it was a little turtle!  I immediately flipped a U and rescued the little turtle from being ran over.
Isn't he cute?

To be honest...I didn't want to keep him at first.  I wanted to put him back into the wild where he belonged far, far away from any streets.  Judd, however, wanted to keep him and build him a little habitat in our backyard so I reluctantly agreed.  I am glad that we ended up keeping him.  We named him Tiko (we got the name from Dora which has been playing on our TV a lot lately).

Bella loves him!  She is really cute around him.  We spent a few hours hanging out in our backyard today and she was totally amazed by him.  She was even saying "Tootal".

Even the dog is really good around him.

Now that I think of it...I don't even really know if Tiko is a him or a her.  Guess I should do a little research on that.  Anyways, here are a couple of photos of Bella in our backyard today, having a blast.

  1. How fun! When I was a kid we found and caught some turtles in Nebraska that my mother quickly baked in the Vegas sun by leaving them out in the backyard under the plastic sandbox lid :)

I'm glad you started a blog, now I can keep up with you and your sweet family!
